What and Who is WavingBearFlag?
The What:
In August 2013, two of our members were working corners at Road Atlanta on a particularly boring Sunday morning. For lack of any on-track action requiring their attention, they began contemplating making and displaying their own flags to send arbitrary and confusing messages to drivers and control. They suggested a bear flag.
Yup. That's right. A flag with a bear on it. Why? You must surely be asking yourself. We would offer a more complete explanation, but the brain cells that would have prevented the bear flag idea were mercifully killed off in a post-barbecue moonshine haze the evening before and, as these things often do, the idea gained momentum.
Upon presenting the rest of the team with the bear flag idea, a number of questions were asked.
"Is the bear just standing there?"
"Is he waving at the cars?"
"Is the flag waving or standing?"
"So would it be a standing waving bear flag or a waving waving bear flag?"
You can imagine where it goes from here. (He fixes the cable?)
And thus, WavingBearFlag was born. This is (sadly) the truth. We welcome more elaborate back-stories, we just couldn't think of any good lies.
